I’ve been fortunate to play a lot of very nice guitars in my life. For the most part, I played Les Pauls and later on I started to prefer Stratocasters. I was pretty much a big company, name-brand, kind of guy as well. I was using a couple of custom shop Strats and I thought that was pretty much as good as it can get. Then my bandmate Ephraim Lowell let me use his freestyle, custom telecaster, the gristlecaster itself. I was only gonna play it for a single song because I needed a fixed bridge to drop D with. Shoot that thing felt so good. I put her back into standard and played the whole show. I was blown away by the feel and the tone. I’m now the proud owner of Swampy which is a S-style guitar that Eric Gale built for himself. I’ve already played a dozen shows with her and I’ve never had a guitar that I love to play as much as I do this Guitar.. I still play a name-brand, but that brand is Freestyle Custom now.
